DirecTV has agreed a new multi-year distribution deal for four National Hockey League team regional channels. Announced over the weekend, the deal ensures DirecTV customers continue to have access to the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues.
What You Need to Know
- DirecTV agreed a multi-year deal to distribute local game coverage for four different NHL teams.
- The four included teams are the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues.
- The agreement include access to broadcasts through DirecTV satellite, streaming, U-verse, and commercial business packages.
Over the last couple of years, a number of teams have launched dedicated direct-to-consumer services or team-branded channels. For the 2026–27 NHL season, this includes the Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Wild, and Blues.
Thanks to the new agreement between DirecTV and the NHL, DirecTV streaming and satellite customers (subscribed to Choice and higher packages) and U-verse customers (U200 package and above) located in the designated home territory for one of these teams now have access to the team’s channel.
The four new channels are Hurricanes Hockey Network, Blue Jackets Hockey Network, Wild+, and Blue Note+. Fans can find local games, including pregame and postgame programming, on the following channels.
- Carolina Hurricanes: channel 650 (streaming, satellite) and 1726/726 (U-verse).
- Columbus Blue Jackets: channel 660 (streaming), 660-1 (satellite) and 1735/735 (U-verse).
- Minnesota Wild: channel 668 (streaming), 668-1 (satellite) and 1745/745 (U-verse).
- St. Louis Blues: channel 673 (streaming and satellite) and 1747/747 (U-verse).
“We’re thrilled that fans of the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues can now watch their favorite team on DirecTV in their local market,” said David Proper, NHL Chief Media Officer and Senior Executive Vice President. “Making it easy for fans to follow their teams is at the heart of what we do. This agreement puts our clubs in four passionate hockey markets in front of more of their fans, and that’s a win for everyone who loves the game.”
The agreement also includes distribution rights for DirecTV for Business’s portfolio of sports bars, restaurants, and other commercial venues in each team’s respective region.
“We are committed to keeping fans connected to their favorite teams and giving them more choice and flexibility in how they watch and what they pay,” said Rob Thun, Chief Content Officer at DirecTV. “As local sports distribution evolves, DirecTV brings team channels, regional sports networks, and other viewing options together to make it easier for fans to follow the teams they love. We’re pleased to work with the NHL, NBA, MLB, and others to deliver that experience.”
All four of these NHL regional channels were also added to Fubo’s sports lineup recently, allowing Fubo subscribers in home markets to continue watching their team play live.
