In a strange and unexpected move, Apple has opted to drop the “+” from Apple TV+. Going forward, the streaming service will simply be known as Apple TV.

  • Apple TV+ has been rebranded to Apple TV, dropping the “+” in the process.
  • The name change aligns with Apple’s broader ecosystem, including its app and streaming devices, all now sharing the “Apple TV” branding.
  • While the website is still advertising “Apple TV+,” that’s expected to change soon, along with in-app branding.

While a fairly major change in general, Apple has attempted to make the change as quietly as possible.

Instead of issuing a press release confirming the rebrand, like so many other streaming services have in the past, Apple simply dropped the information in a press release about the upcoming streaming availability of the new F1 The Movie.

Apple TV+ is now simply Apple TV, with a vibrant new identity.”

That was the extent to the information provided about the rebrand. As a result, no additional details on why the service has changed name was provided, nor was any additional info on why now was the right time to make the change.

Regardless of the reason, Apple TV+ is now Apple TV. The same name Apple uses for its app (which is home to more than just the Apple TV streaming service), as well as the name the company uses for its streaming players.

As of right now, the Apple TV website is still advertising the streaming service as Apple TV+, but we do expect the change to become visible in the coming days and weeks, if not sooner.

Those already using the Apple TV app can also now expect to see in-app branding to be updated to reflect the name change in due course.

As for the news Apple wanted you to know, the Apple Original Film F1 The Movie will make its streaming debut on Friday, December 12, 2025, on Apple TV.
