The Chromecast with Google TV is currently on sale for $39.99 and there is also the option to save on the cost of Google’s Chromecast with HBO Max bundle. If in need of a new streaming player, then both of these deals are worth taking a look at. The bundle can particularly be worth considering if also planning on subscribing to HBO Max in the near future.
The Chromecast with Google TV is slightly different to other Chromecast devices as it is the first one to come with a dedicated remote and running on a TV-optimized operating system. In this case, Google TV, formerly Android TV. Due to this, there’s no need to use the Chromecast functionality within a smartphone app to watch on the Chromecast with Google TV. Instead, apps can be directly downloaded and signed in to on the newer Chromecast, and the remote can be used for general navigation.
The standard Chromecast with Google TV typically costs $49.99. However, Google is currently offering consumers the option to buy one for $39.99 through the Google Store, resulting in a $10 saving on the usual cost. The promotion went live on Sunday (July 10) and is due to remain available up until 11:59pm PT on July 17, 2022. If not wanting to buy through the Google Store, consumers will find the same deal available elsewhere. For example, both Amazon and Best Buy are currently matching the same price as the Google Store.
For those considering signing up to HBO Max soon, the Google Store also offers a ‘Chromecast and HBO Max’ bundle. This bundle not only includes the standard Chromecast with Google TV but also a three-month HBO Max subscription for a total price of $64.99. The bundle does actually provide access to the ad-free version of HBO Max which is priced at $14.99 per month when subscribing directly. Essentially, this results in the Chromecast only costing $20 on top of the three months of HBO Max.
Right now, the same $10 discount is currently on offer, bringing the total cost of the Chromecast with Google TV and the 3-month HBO Max subscription down to $54.99. This results in the Chromecast only costing $10 on top of the three months of HBO Max. An alternative way of looking at the deal is buying a Chromecast with Google TV at full price and only paying $5 for three months of ad-free HBO Max.
Similar to the standard Chromecast deal, this lower bundle price is available through July 17, 2022. It is also worth noting that the 3-month HBO Max ad-free subscription is only available to new HBO Max subscribers. In addition, the HBO Max subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the three months unless the subscription is canceled before the end of the discounted period.
