DirecTV Stream offers four main live TV packages to choose from and Movies Extra Pack can be added to any of the plans. The add-on typically costs $4.99 per month and unlocks access to a variety of additional movie channels including Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HDNet Movies, and Sony Movies.

Right now, however, DirecTV Stream can watch any of the channels included with Movies Extra Pack for free. This latest free preview from DirecTV Stream officially went live today (March 7th) and is due to remain active through Sunday, March 12th.

In spite of the name highlighting the additional access to movies, the add-on provides access to plenty of classic programming and documentaries as well. For example, Movies Extra Pack also unlocks access to Hallmark Drama, Smithsonian Channel, Crime & Investigation, MTV Live, ShortsTV, and INSP.

For those now interested in giving the free preview a try, they can simply navigate to the live guide, locate any of the channels included with the add-on, and start watching.

As this is a free preview, subscribers won’t have to worry about being automatically charged once the preview comes to an end. For those that do want to continue with Movies Extra Pack, they will need to manually add the add-on to their existing live TV package following the free preview.
