DirecTV Stream Subscribers Unable To Access Max Due To Authentication Issue

Some DirecTV Stream subscribers appear to be currently dealing with an issue that stops them from accessing Max. As Max is a paid add-on, the issue is only affecting those who subscribe to Max through DirecTV, or get it for free as part of a legacy package.

After being automatically logged out of the Max app, affected DirecTV Stream subscribers are unable to log back in again when attempting to authenticate their subscription with DirecTV Stream. Instead of unlocking access, the Max app and website acts as if the affected subscribers don’t have an active subscription through their TV provider.

At the moment it remains unclear what is causing the problem. The issue seems to have started earlier this week and DirecTV is aware of the problem. The company has been responding to customers to confirm the issue is affecting others and to confirm that it is actively working on a solution.

In the meantime, DirecTV has suggested one workaround is to attempt to log in to the Max app or website using AT&T as the TV provider instead of DirecTV Stream. While this may work for some accounts, based on some of the user reports we’ve seen, the workaround doesn’t appear to be working for all affected subscribers.

For those that find the workaround doesn’t work for them, there doesn’t appear to be any other option right now, other than waiting for the root cause of the problem to be fixed.
