Fubo has dropped the price of its Pro and Elite plans for new customers. While a price drop in streaming is uncommon, this reduction reflects the recent loss of the NBCUniversal suite of channels.
Key Takeaways
- Fubo has lowered the price of the Pro plan to $73.99/mo and the price of the Elite plan to $83.99/mo.
- The price reduction reflects the loss of NBCUniversal channels, including NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network last month.
- With Fubo also offering a new user discount, new subscribers can currently get their first month for as low as $48.99 when signing up.
It became clear last month that Fubo and NBCUniversal were struggling to agree a new deal in time, and this ultimately resulted in the live TV streaming service losing NBCUniversal channels in late November.
The dispute not only resulted in the removal of local NBC and Telemundo, but also regional NBC Sports channels, and national channels like Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network.
With still no sign these channels are any closer to returning to Fubo’s lineup, the live TV service has opted to lower the price of its two main packages – Pro and Elite.
The price drop lowers the cost of the Pro plan down to $73.99 a month and the cost of the Elite plan down to $83.99 a month
Fubo was already offering a discount to new subscribers as part of a limited-time promotion and that discount is also still in effect.
As a result, new subscribers can currently get their first month of Pro for as little as $48.99 (a saving of $25) when signing up, or their first month of Elite for as little as $53.99 (a saving of $30) when signing up.
Fubo previously confirmed that existing subscribers affected by the loss of NBCU channels would receive a $15 credit. That credit is due to begin rolling out to affected subscribers with their December bill.
Billing for existing subscribers will then be adjusted to the same new lower monthly price as new subscribers ($73.99/mo for Pro and $83.99/mo for Elite) beginning with their January bill.
