Fubo may have just confirmed that Venu Sports will launch on August 23. If correct, the highly anticipated sports-streaming service is currently less than two weeks away from arriving.

Citing a “reliable source close to the joint venture” for the information, a report over the weekend by Front Office Sports looked to confirm that the plan was for Venu Sports to launch by the end of this month.

During the closing arguments of Fubo’s antitrust lawsuit today, a Fubo lawyer stated the new sports streaming service will launch on August 23, according to Daniel Kaplan on X, the reporter who has been covering developments in the antitrust lawsuit for Front Office Sports.

Of course, that same antitrust lawsuit could play a pivotal role in whether Venu Sports launches on that date, if ever. Fubo has continually suggested the service would have a material impact on live TV services like Fubo, with the lawsuit currently seeking a preliminary injunction against the launch of the service.

If the judge agrees with Fubo then it is possible that the service will be blocked from launching, whether that’s on August 23 or later in the month. The block would be expected to remain in effect up until the trial, pending any successful appeal by Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery.

Assuming August 23 is indeed the current Venu Sports launch date, it stands to reason that the judge may issue a ruling on the preliminary injunction before then.

As a reminder, Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery recently confirmed that Venu Sports will be priced at $42.99 a month. What’s more, those that sign up at the launch price will have their monthly rate guaranteed for the first 12 months.
