fuboTV has confirmed that AMC and a number of other channels have been removed from its lineup, following the lack of a new carriage deal with AMC Networks. The previous deal for the affected channels came to an end on December 31st, at which point, the channels became unavailable to watch. At present, it doesn’t look like any of these channels will be added back in the future.

In a bid to appeal to non-sports fans as much as sports fans, fuboTV has been making some major changes to its channel lineup in recent years. This emphasis on increased news and entertainment hasn’t come at the cost of sports, which has also expanded over time as well. Just recently, fuboTV confirmed that Bally Sports was due to be re-added to its lineup, providing sports fans with another option for accessing their local Bally Sports channels.

In spite of this continued expansion of channels, it is now clear that a number of channels owned by AMC Networks, including AMC, BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, and WE TV, have been dropped by fuboTV. In a help post confirming the change to its lineup, fuboTV explains that “balancing value and keeping your costs as low as possible” led to the removal of the channels.

While it is not uncommon for channels to be temporarily dropped while negotiations continue, that does not appear to be the case here. Instead, this appears to be more of a permanent removal. The same help post notes “while we are always open to adding AMC Networks to our lineup in the future, we currently have no plans to do so.”

Channels dropped by fuboTV on Dec. 31, 2022:

  • AMC
  • AMC Premiere
  • BBC America
  • BBC World News
  • El Gourmet
  • IFC
  • Mas Chic
  • Sundance TV
  • WE TV

For those homes that do want access to AMC content, a standalone AMC Plus subscription might be able to help fill in the fuboTV gaps. While AMC plus doesn’t offer access to all of the channels, a subscription does unlock content from AMC, IFC, and Sundance TV, in addition to content from Shudder as well. Otherwise, an alternative live TV streaming service might need to be considered.

In the meantime, fuboTV has confirmed that any recordings made for any of these channels will remain unaffected by the change. As a result, fuboTV homes can at least catch up on their recordings before making a decision as to whether the current selection of channels still meets their live TV needs in 2023.
