HBO Max is currently offering a pretty decent discount on its annual plans, making it possible to sign up for a full year for as little as $69.99. Even though this is not the first time that HBO Max has offered a discount on its plans, it’s rare that as much as 40 percent can be saved on the cost of a subscription, making this prepay deal a promotion worth considering for both new and returning HBO Max customers.

HBO Max is one of the more popular streaming services around and with good reason – it does provide access to a varied selection of movies, shows, and originals. For those new to the service, there is the choice of signing up for the $14.99 per month ad-free plan or the $9.99 per month ad-supported plan. There is also the option to sign up on an annual basis to save on the cost over 12 months. Typically, the annual plans cost $99.99 (ad-supported) and $149.99 (ad-free) per year, which roughly works out to be two months free.

Now, however, HBO Max is offering an even greater discount on the price of its annual plans, driving the cost down even further. For those signing up through the HBO Max website before October 30, 2022, the ad-free yearly plan can be picked up for just $104.99, which works out to be around $8.75 per month on average. For those that want to save as much as possible, the ad-supported yearly plan is now down to $69.99, which is the equivalent to around $5.83 per month.

Of course, there are some points to be aware of before signing up to an annual plan, as they might not be the right option for everyone. For one thing, annual plans require the full yearly payment to be made up front and there are no options for a refund. Due to this, subscribers will want to make sure that they are going to use the service for the full year before committing and paying for an entire year. The other main caveat to be aware of is that, unless canceled, both annual plans automatically renew at the end of the first year, and at the higher, usual rate. This means $149.99 for the ad-free plan and $99.99 for the ad-supported plan.

As a reminder, this 40% HBO Max annual plans deal is available starting today (Aug. 17) and will remain available through October 30, 2022.
