According to the joint announcement by MVP and Netflix, the cancelation of the event follows an investigation launched by Most Valuable Productions into a civil lawsuit filed against Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30.
“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” said Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions.
Also according to the announcement, fans that had purchased tickets to the fight via Ticketmaster can expect to receive an automatic refund through their original point of purchase within 14-21 days.
Although the fight is no longer going ahead as planned, MVP and Netflix have confirmed the intention is for a Netflix event headlined by Jake Paul to still take place before the end of the year.
Further details on this new fight however, including when it will take place, currently remain unknown.
“Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership,” Bidarian added.
The fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis was originally due to be available to stream live on Netflix on November 14th. Along with the main event, Netflix was also due to release a behind-the-scenes ‘Countdown: Jake vs. Tank‘ documentary on November 8th.
With the fight now canceled, it is also unclear whether the companion documentary will still be available to stream on Netflix this weekend as planned.
