In a bid to continue to build out its hotel experience, LG‘s free streaming service is coming to the company’s line of hotel smart TVs. Once available, LG Channels will provide hotel guests with access to a varied selection of free, ad-supported channels and content.
It also looks like hoteliers will be able to personalize the experience by choosing the channels they would prefer their guests have access to.
In general, the LG Channels lineup unlocks access to programming across a range of categories and genres including live news, sports, movies, reality, drama and more. Some of the FAST channels confirmed to be available to hotels include ION, The Hill TV, Movie-Sphere by Lionsgate, Deal or No Deal by Banijay Rights and World Poker Tour.
These are in addition to more than twenty Stingray Music channels with high-definition audio.
“Hoteliers are always looking for additional content and channels for their guests,” explained Jacob Benner, Senior Director of Hospitality, LG Electronics USA. “Over 95 FAST LG Channels are currently available on all of our smart hotel TVs and set-top boxes, and hotel management – via their integrator partner – can decide which of these channels they wish to add from an ‘a la carte’ menu. As there is no need for additional apps or hardware to support the programming, the LG Channels will appear on-screen as regular TV channels within the guest channel guide.”
The availability of LG Channels follows the launch of Google Cast support. Earlier this year, LG confirmed plans to bring Google Cast (formerly Chromecast built-in) to its hotel TVs in 2024, offering hotel guests with a compatible mobile device the ability to connect their device to the TV using a QR code and wirelessly stream content or control various aspects of the TV.
