Locast first launched in early 2018. Since then, it has been rolling out to new locations, albeit at a slower rate than other streaming services usually do. The arrival in Cleveland marks the 30th location to gain Locast support, following the launch of Sacramento support in February and Orlando in January.

Locast has now confirmed that it is available to residents in Cleveland and the greater metro area. An expansion which opens up the service to an additional four million people in 17 countries, including Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, and Wayne.

From the user perspective, Cleveland residents are now able to stream 70 local TV channels over the internet for free, including WKYC NBC 3, WEWS ABC 5, WJW FOX 8, and WOIO CBS 19. In addition to PBS, Univision, CourtTV, and The CW, among others.

Cleveland residents can now use Locast

With the support live, Cleveland residents now have an additional option for accessing their local live TV stations and channels, including local news, sports, and weather information. Unlike the traditional ways of accessing these channels, Locast does not require any specific hardware or devices. Instead, users can simply download the Locast apps on any of their preferred devices and start streaming. Locast can be accessed on select smart TVs, streaming players, laptops, smartphones, and more.

While the service is free in general, it does also rely on a donation model to operate and continue to expand to new locations. Although providing a donation is optional, many users have noted that the experience tends to be routinely interrupted for non-donation users. For reference, donations start at $5 and are recurring payments. In other words, users will be expected to pay the same donation amount to Locast each month unless they cancel.

Outside of live TV, John also actively streams HBO Max (for the shows), Peacock (for Premier League), and Paramount Plus (for Champion's League). However, John is also currently subscribed to Apple TV+, Discovery+, Hulu, Starz, Showtime, and Shudder.
