One of Netflix‘s next upcoming live events will be the third fight between Katie Taylor (24–1, 6 KOs) and Amanda Serrano (47–3–1, 31 KOs). The fight is due to take place on Friday, July 11th, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The upcoming Taylor vs. Serrano fight will be the second live boxing match that Netflix has streamed. In November of last year, Netflix streamed the high profile bout between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. While that boxing match didn’t go as smoothly as it could have, it was a major win in terms of viewership for the streaming service.
According to Netflix, 108 million people tuned in to watch Paul vs. Tyson.
With viewership like this, Netflix is now ready to stream its next big live fight. As Netflix pointed out in its announcement post, this time will also mark “the first-ever all-women’s professional boxing card at Madison Square Garden in New York City.”
As this is the third in a trilogy fight, this will be the final time the two come up against each other, and the undisputed super lightweight title will be on the line once again.
The last time the two met up, Katie Taylor came out on top following a controversial split decision to become the undisputed super lightweight champion. The second fight in this trilogy was on the same card as the Paul-Tyson fight in November.
With the previous two clashes resulting in record-breaking fights, Netflix says it is expecting the third fight between Taylor and Serrano “to be one of the most exciting rematches in boxing history.”
Similar to the Paul-Tyson fight, subscribers will be able to watch Taylor vs. Serrano 3 live on Netflix at no additional cost. The fight will also be available to Netflix subscribers globally.
