New Dish TV customers can now get two years of Netflix for free after signing up. While Dish was already offering two years of free Netflix to new customers, the new promotion unlocks access to the Standard Netflix plan, an upgrade from the Standard with ads plan previously included with the offer.
Unlike the Standard with ads plan, Standard is a completely ad-free plan. Standard also unlocks access to the full Netflix library, whereas the Standard with ads plan excludes access to some titles.
Considering Netflix’s Standard plan typically costs $15.49 a month, new Dish TV customers can save more than $370 over the course of the full two years. Furthermore, the offer is also available to those already paying for a standalone Netflix subscription.
“We’re always looking for ways to simplify and elevate the viewing experience for our customers,” said Gary Schanman, group president, Dish Video Services. “This new Dish and Netflix offer is a great opportunity to give Dish customers Netflix’s popular series and films. By bringing together the best of live TV and streaming, we’re offering convenience and access to the most sought-after content in one seamless experience.”
Earlier this month, DirecTV and EchoStar agreed a deal which will see DirecTV purchase EchoStar’s video businesses, including Dish TV and Sling TV. While it remains unclear what will happen to Dish TV and Sling TV following the completion of that deal, the advantage of a two-year commitment is that new Dish customers have their price guaranteed for the first two years.
