Netflix has now unveiled its new experience for TV users. The new experience includes a number of upgrades like more visible shortcuts and responsive recommendations.
In terms of those shortcuts, Netflix is moving the Search and My List shortcuts from the left-hand side menu to the top of the page, making them more noticeable and easier to navigate to.
When it comes to responsive recommendations, Netflix explains that the idea here is to make recommendations on the homepage more reflective of the viewer’s moods and interests at that time.
Essentially, recommendations should now update in real time, based on user signals including a click on a thumbs up or a search for an actor.
Tiles on Netflix are also becoming larger in a bid to make some of the additional information more visible without having to click on the tile. As part of this change, Netflix will also add some additional info to these tiles which may (or may not) affect your decision-making process.
As an example, noting whether a movie or show is the top title in its category, whether it is an award-winning title, or when a live event is due to become available to watch live.
For those eager on checking the new design out, it looks like the update will be rolling out to compatible TVs and players in stages. According to Netflix, members worldwide will begin to gain access to the new TV experience over the coming weeks and months.
In the meantime, you can check out the teaser below for a closer look at the upcoming changes.
Netflix’s iOS App Gains An AI Recommendations Assistant
Netflix is also in the process of attempting to make the mobile experience better by providing a new way for mobile users to search for content.
Through the use of Generative AI, mobile users will gain the ability to search for shows and movies using natural, conversational phrases. For example, “I want something funny and upbeat.”
As part of the testing process, this new search option will initially only be available on iOS devices, and will require the member to opt-in for access.
