Paramount+ Live Channels are a selection of curated channels that have now been added to the streaming service. While Paramount+ is primarily an on-demand service, it has slowly been expanding into live programming as well. For example, Premium subscribers already get access to their local live CBS station, and there is also the option to watch a limited selection of live sports as well.

Although streaming, and in particular on-demand access, is being seen as an evolution of the industry, the option to tune in and watch live remains popular with consumers. This can not only be seen at the live TV streaming service level, but also at the free level where services like Pluto TV have grown considerably over the years. While Pluto TV does offer access to live TV content, it is very different to the traditional live TV services. An approach Paramount+ is now looking to emulate with its new Live Channels.

Paramount+ has now announced the launch of Live Channels, a limited selection of channels that are specifically curated based on popular shows and genres. Unlike traditional live TV services, Paramount+ is not offering access to typical live TV content, but channels which continuously play episodes of the same or similar shows twenty-four hours a day, every day. For example, there is a dedicated Star Trek channel which continuously plays episodes from newer shows like Discovery and Picard, as well as episodes from classic shows like Enterprise and The Next Generation.

In total, Paramount+ has launched 18 new Live Channels for subscribers to tune in and watch at any time, with the selection spanning the different genres that the service says highlights the “the diversity and depth” of the streaming service.

  • 24/7 Laughs
  • Adult Animation
  • All Day Drama
  • Animation Favorites
  • Black Voices
  • Crime & Justice
  • History & Undiscovered
  • Kids & Family Fun
  • Nostalgic Hits
  • PAW Patrol
  • Preschool Corner
  • Reality TV: Competition
  • Reality TV: Shores
  • SpongeBob Universe
  • Star Trek
  • Survivor
  • The Challenge
  • TV Classics

In addition to the channels listed above, Paramount+ intends to keep adding new channels as time goes on. For example, two more channels are scheduled to go live later in December, one for movies and one dedicated to RuPaul’s Drag Race episodes. The new Live Channels feature is available to all Paramount+ subscribers regardless of their subscription type. In addition, the feature is now live with the new channels located under the “Live TV” section of the service’s various platform apps and the Paramount+ website.

John's preferred live TV streaming service right now is YouTube TV although he does tend to switch live TV services multiple times each year to keep up to date with their changes. Outside of live TV, John also actively streams HBO Max (for the shows), Peacock (for Premier League), and Paramount Plus (for Champion's League). However, John is also currently subscribed to Apple TV+, Discovery+, Hulu, Starz, Showtime, and Shudder.
