Whether accessing Roku OS on a Roku smart TV or a Roku player, all of these features are expected to roll out over the coming weeks.
Trending Content Is Now Easier To Find
One of the big updates is the addition of a New & Popular section that’s designed to make it easier for Roku users to find what’s new and trending.
In this section, users will find new Top 10 Movies and Top 10 TV Shows rows spotlighting the most searched titles across Roku.
From Theaters To Roku
In the same New & Popular section, Roku users will find the new In Theaters Now row. While this is primarily designed to provide information on movies currently in theaters, including links to trailers, Roku users also have the easy ability to add any of these titles to their save list.
This makes it super easy to find the title again once it is available to stream at home.
Bite-Sized Previews With Surf Mode
If you like previewing content then you’ll probably love Roku’s Surf Mode. This mode allows users to easily watch and scroll through bite-sized clips from The Roku Channel.
Powered by machine learning, these curated previews not only preview shows and movies, but they also make it easy to click through to start watching the title that caught your attention.
New On Live TV
For those that often dig deep into Roku’s more than 500-channel live TV experience to find something to watch, they might not need to dig quite as deep in the future.
This is primarily thanks to the addition of a Newly Added section that makes it easy to see the latest channels added to the guide.
In addition, premium subscriptions will also now appear in the top recommendations row for quick access to trending shows.
