Rumor Has It A ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Is On The Way, And With Sarah Michelle Gellar

Buffy leaving Hulu

If you’re a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer then you might be interested to know that a reboot of the popular show is apparently nearing reality. The reboot is reportedly likely to end up on Hulu and Sarah Michelle Geller is expected to take part.

The reboot will be a follow-up series to the original, according to both Deadline and Variety. Also, while Geller is expected to reprise the role of Buffy Anne Summers, the new series will primarily focus on a new Slayer.

At the moment, the reboot appears to only be nearing the pilot order stage at Hulu. While this does indicate the possibility that a series won’t make its way to production, the popularity of the show, and the success of other recent reboots, makes the possibility of the pilot making it to a series all the more likely.

It currently remains unclear whether any other original Buffy cast members are likely to return alongside Geller.

The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran for seven seasons in total, between 1997 and 2003. The popularity of the show also led to the release of the spin-off series, Angel, which ran for five seasons between 1999 and 2004.

All 144 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 110 episodes of Angel are currently available to stream on Hulu. Plans starts at $9.99 a month, or $10.99 a month when bundling Hulu with Disney+.
