Scholastic, a distributor of children’s books to schools, libraries, and elsewhere, has partnered with Future Today through its 9 Story Media Group to launch its first branded streaming app. The free app unlocks access to a variety of popular characters and content, including Clifford and Goosebumps, among others.
Key Takeaways
- In partnership with Future Today, Scholastic and 9 Story Media Group have launched a free streaming app featuring beloved children’s content like Clifford, Goosebumps, and The Magic School Bus.
- The app targets children aged 2–12 and offers over 400 hours of nostalgic and educational programming from Scholastic and 9 Story libraries, including Garfield and Barney & Friends.
- Initially available on Amazon Fire TV and Roku, the app will expand to more platforms over time, aiming to reach families globally with trusted, timeless stories.
Designed with kids aged between 2 and 12 in mind, the new app is packed with more than 400 hours of content from Scholastic’s library. This includes access to select seasons of Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Magic School Bus, Goosebumps, Clifford’s Really Big Movie, The Baby-Sitters Club and Animorphs.
In addition to content from Scholastic’s library, the streaming app also provides access to select titles from the 9 Story library, including Garfield and Barney & Friends.
“We’re seeing strong demand for quality nostalgic content, and the Scholastic brand is trusted by families everywhere,” said Elianne Friend, VP of Digital & Distribution at 9 Story. “Future Today was the ideal partner to help us bring Scholastic’s beloved stories to new audiences. We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue expanding Scholastic Entertainment’s incredible catalog across global streaming platforms.”
From Future Today’s perspective, the partnership with 9 Story adds to its growing ambitions within the kids streaming space, and follows the company’s partnership with Chuck E Cheese earlier this year.
Future Today’s other recent partnerships in this space include agreements with Moonbug, LEGO, and El Reino Infantil, among others.
“Scholastic books and programs have been a cornerstone of childhood for generations, bringing characters and lessons that stay with us for life,” said David Di Lorenzo, SVP Kids & Family at Future Today. “With this new app, we’re ensuring families everywhere will have access to timeless stories that entertain, education and inspire – backed by a brand they know and trust.”
With this being a new streaming app, platform and device support is a little limited to begin with. Beginning today, the app is available to download on Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices.
Support for additional platforms and devices is expected to be added at a later time.
