Sling Reminds YouTube TV Subscribers They Can Watch ESPN With a Day, Weekend, or Week Pass

When one live TV provider enters a dispute with a channel owner it can prove beneficial to the competition. On this occasion, Sling is using the dispute between Disney and YouTube TV as an opportunity to remind affected subscribers of its Day, Weekend, and Week Pass options.

When disputes like the one between Disney and YouTube TV arise, some services typically attempt to lower their price in a bid to try and lure subscribers of the affected service to completely switch to them.

This attempt by Sling, however, goes to show how unique its Passes by Sling are. Sling isn’t attempting to lure subscribers over completely, although it would be happy enough with that outcome too.

Instead, it is simply reminding sports fans who subscribe to YouTube TV that they can temporarily sign up to one of its Passes while remaining subscribed to YouTube TV.

“Unlike the monthly contracts for YouTube TV, the new Passes by Sling are short-term subscriptions at a much lower price point,” Sling said in a recent announcement.

As they are short-term subscriptions, consumers pay once and get access to the Sling Orange plan for a predetermined amount of time, and without having to worry about the subscription auto-renewing.

Sling Orange provides access to 34 channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3, the latter of which also simulcasts sports on ABC – another of the channels currently affected by the dispute between Disney and YouTube TV.

As a reminder, the cheapest Day Pass costs $4.99 and provides 24-hour access to the Sling Orange plan.

If wanting access for a longer period of time, the Weekend Pass costs $9.99 and unlocks the Sling Orange package over a single weekend, while the Week Pass costs $14.99 and unlocks access to the same channel lineup for a full seven days.
