Superman Takes Over HBO Max As Movie Makes Its Debut On The Streaming Service

If you’re using the HBO Max app today then you are likely to notice that Superman has taken over the interface. The themed takeover is designed to highlight the arrival of the latest Superman movie on the streaming service.

DC Studios’ Superman made its global streaming debut today (Sept. 19) on HBO Max, making the Warner Bros. Discovery service the exclusive streaming home of the movie, and barely a month after Superman became available for digital rental and purchase.

The movie is also set to mark its HBO linear debut tomorrow (Sept. 20) at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Along with the main version of the movie, HBO Max has also made a version with American Sign Language (ASL) available, interpreted by Deaf ASL Interpreter Giovanni Maucere and directed by Leila Hanaumi.

To celebrate the launch, a number of changes have been made to HBO Max to further bring attention to Superman’s arrival.

These include:

• A Daily Planet Homepage takeover with refreshed art, style, and specially designed content rails
• A fan-focused The Fortress of Solitude page with themed curations
• Hidden portals throughout the homepage that transport users to Lex Luthor’s Pocket Prison

For those considering signing up to HBO Max to stream the new Superman movie, the streaming service’s plans start at $9.99 a month for the ad-supported tier. Those wanting to stream the service’s library without ads will want to consider one of HBO Max’s ad-free plans, which start at $16.99 a month.

HBO Max no longer offers a free trial to new subscribers. Unless subscribing to the service through select third-parties, new subscribers will need to pay for the first month when signing up.
