The Super Mario Bros. Movie was the most searched movie on Roku in 2023, while Yellowstone was the most searched TV show over the past 12 months. In total, more than 1.2 billion searches were performed on the Roku platform in the U.S. in 2023. According to Roku, this resulted in an increase of almost 50% compared to the number of searches performed in 2022.
Roku released the details on its most searched movies and shows for the year alongside announcing New Year’s Central, a new interactive experience that’s packed with features to ring in the new year with.
Following The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was the second most searched movie and Avatar: The Way of Water was the third most searched. M3GAN and
The Little Mermaid rounded out the top 5.

When it comes to the television side of things, and along with most-searched Yellowstone, SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, South Park and Bluey were the top 5 most-searched shows on Roku in 2023. For reference, Yellowstone and SpongeBob SquarePants occupied the same top two spots in 2022.
