Cineverse just experienced its most-watched streaming quarter. In spite of the massive year-over-year increase in minutes streamed, the company didn’t see any quarter-over-quarter increase in subscribers.
What You Need to Know
- Cineverse achieved a historic 4.5 billion minutes streamed during the most recent quarter, a 33% increase year over year.
- While total SVOD subscribers also increased year over year, subscribers remained flat compared to the previous quarter.
- The latest data points to existing users spending significantly more time streaming.
For the second calendar quarter of 2026 (Cineverse Q1 FY 2027), the company reported a total of 4.5 billion minutes streamed, This marked a 33% increase year over year, and an increase on the 4.4 billion reported for the previous quarter.
Streaming viewers for the quarter reached a total of 122.8 million, an increase of 12% on the previous year’s quarter, and SVOD subscribers stood at 1.52 million, also a 12% increase on the 1.38 million reported for the same quarter last year.
What’s additional notable here is that with total minutes viewed growing almost three times quicker than the total number of unique viewers, existing users seem to be spending increasingly more time streaming.
While the company saw good year-over-year increases during the most recent quarter, things were a little different on a quarterly basis. For example, with 122.8 million streaming viewers for the most recent quarter, Cineverse encountered a decline compared to the 129.6 million reported for the first calendar quarter (Q4 FY 2026) of the year.
Similarly, while 1.52 million SVOD subscribers marked an increase on the same quarter of the previous year, it marked no change from the 1.52 million reported for the previous quarter.
In terms of individual services, the most recent quarter proved notable for Docurama, which managed to surpass 100,000 subscribers for the first time.
According to the company, its flagship Cineverse channel and RetroCrush also both ended the more recent quarter with all-time subscriber highs.
