DirecTV has now added The CW to its MySports Genre Pack, providing subscribers with access to more entertainment and sports content. Specifically, a quicker way to access The CW’s sports programming.
What You Need to Know
- DirecTV has added The CW to its MySports Genre Pack, allowing subscribers to access the network directly through the live guide.
- The CW is home to a variety of sports content, including ACC football, NASCAR, and WWE NXT.
- The addition means MySports viewers can now watch The CW content without having to rely on an ESPN Unlimited workaround.
DirecTV launched its MySports package at the beginning of 2025 as a sports-focused alternative to the company’s Signature Packages. It also helped that MySports is cheaper in price as well.
However, the cheaper cost and more streamlined focus on sports did mean that the MySports plan unlocked access to fewer channels than a Signature Package, with The CW an example of one of the missing networks.
That has now changed. This week DirecTV added The CW to its MySports lineup. Those already subscribed to the Genre Pack should now be able to access The CW through the live guide, while those signing up to MySports can now expect it to be included at no additional cost.
With The CW unlocked, MySports subscribers have now gained access to even more sports content, including ACC college football, Pac-12 games, NASCAR, and WWE NXT.
Technically, MySports subscribers already had access to all of this content, thanks to the inclusion of ESPN Unlimited with a MySports subscription.
Back in August, The CW Network and ESPN announced they had partnered to make the ESPN app the exclusive streaming home to more than 800 hours of annual live CW Sports programming.
Considering this The CW content in the ESPN app was automatically available to ESPN Unlimited subscribers, and access to ESPN Unlimited is included in the MySports package, MySports subscribers could already access all of this content.
In spite of this, having access to The CW directly within the DirecTV interface does make it quicker and easier for sports fans to consume The CW’s growing sports lineup.
