A New Fire TV Stick Just Launched, And It’s Amazon’s Slimmest Ever Streaming Device

Amazon has added a new Fire TV Stick to its catalog. Not only does the new Fire TV Stick HD come with the usual generation over generation improvements, but it’s also Amazon’s slimmest streaming device to date.

Amazon‘s new Fire TV Stick HD costs $34.99 and is designed to be a highly portable streaming stick, making it just as useful when taken on a trip as when used at home.

To begin with, the Fire TV Stick HD features a much slimmer profile than past models. A 30% slimmer profile, according to Amazon.

Adding to its portable design, the Fire TV Stick HD also supports Direct Power, meaning it can be powered through a TV’s USB port.

While this completely removes the need for a wall adapter, it can also be powered with a USB-C cable and a wall adapter if wanted.

A notable change from past HD models, and similar to last year’s Fire TV Stick 4K Select, the new Fire TV Stick HD comes running on Vega OS.

Developed by Amazon as a direct replacement for the Android-based Fire OS, Vega OS offers a completely new and redesigned experience.

Alexa+ is also on board to provide smarter and more personalized recommendations through natural conversations.

As to be expected with a new model, the Fire TV Stick HD is designed to be power powerful, with Amazon stating it is more than 30% faster on average than the last-generation HD stick.

Connectivity has also been improved, thanks to the inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support.

Priced at $34.99, the new Fire TV Stick HD is now available to pre-order from Amazon. The new streaming stick is due to begin shipping April 29 to customers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
