Trains might not be the quickest forms of transport, but they are certainly one of the most scenic, and a very common setting for movies. The confined space, while traveling at speed, also makes for a setting that easily transcends genres.

For those like us, who love movies set on trains, here are 16 movies where the train is the real star of the show.

If you’re a fan of westerns, then 3:10 to Yuma is the movie for you. The train is so much the star that the movie is literally named after it – the 3:10 train to Yuma.
