Caliente TV is launching a new direct-to-consumer streaming service in Mexico, offering sports fans another way to access the platform’s sports content, in addition to the Caliente TV 24/7 linear channel.
In terms of live sports events, the new DTC service looks set to be a good option for soccer fans in particular. Each season the service will provide access to 109 UEFA Champions League matches, including the exclusive rights to all Wednesday matches, and the rights to the UEFA Champions League Final.
Subscribers will also be able to stream all 306 matches from Ligue 1 and the service will also be the home to Liga MX clubs Xolos de Tijuana and Gallos Blancos de Querétaro. Adding to the soccer coverage, subscribers will be able to stream women’s matches for Xolos de Tijuana, Gallos Blanco de Querétaro, Santos Laguna, and Atlas in Liga MX Femenil.
Other sports events due to be available through the service include select games from Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional and Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional, and preseason games for the NFL‘s LA Rams.
At the moment, there is no clear information on exactly when the paid version of the DTC service will launch. In the meantime, the plan is to offer a promotional period where users can access the service for free. This includes the service’s live sports content, beginning with six UEFA Champions League match on September 18.
Caliente TV has partnered with ViewLift to create the app, the same content distribution platform that’s being utilized by the Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights in the U.S. In terms of device support the service can be accessed directly through the website, as well as on Amazon Fire TV, Android mobile, Apple TV and Roku devices.
