A new Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) will launch in October and operate as the new home for all Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox games. According to CHSN, more than 300 live games will be available to watch each year through the new network. This is in addition to pre-and-post game coverage and 24/7 multisport programming.
The Chicago Sports Network is a joint venture between the three teams and Standard Media. Jason Coyle, who previously served as president of Stadium, has been named president of the network.
“As we set out to design the network, we began and ended every discussion with the simple question: What is best for our fans?” said Coyle. “What is the best approach to distribution? How can we push the limits of both in-game and studio production? We plan to serve our fans on as many platforms and in as many markets as our rights allow.”
While the network will go live in October of this year with preseason Blackhawks and Bulls games, the first White Sox game won’t be available to watch on CHSN before 2025. Until then, all remaining 2024 White Sox games will continue to be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago.
In terms of accessing the new network, CHSN says agreements will be in place with traditional cable providers and streaming services. For those who typically access live TV over-the-air, a free OTA broadcast of the new network will be available.
More details on the new network, including confirmed distribution agreements, are expected to be announced later in the year and ahead of Chicago Sports Network’s October launch.
