DirecTV may have been around for a long time now, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still gaps in its supported devices list. Up until now, one of those gaps was Vizio TVs.
Previously unavailable on Vizio’s TV lineup, owners of the company’s smart TVs now have access to the DirecTV app for the first time. As this is Vizio, there’s also no need to download the app, which is now automatically available in the Apps section of the Vizio interface.

In addition to its main live TV packages, DirecTV also now offers a selection of themed live TV packages. These Genre Packs make it possible to sign up to a skinnier live TV plan focused on just sports, or news, or entertainment, among other genre options.
The DirecTV app also unlocks the option for Vizio TV owners to access DirecTV’s MyFree lineup. Similar to Vizio’s own WatchFree+ service, MyFree DirecTV offers access to a wide variety of FAST channels without the need to pay for a live TV plan.
