What You Need to Know

  • The Election HQ channel is coming back to DirecTV next week to cover the midterm elections.
  • Election HQ allows customers to watch four major news channels at once while displaying live election numbers.
  • Access to an official DirecTV device is required, ruling out the use of third-party devices.

DirecTV introduced its Election HQ channel in late 2024 and just in time for the 2024 United States presidential election. At the time, the channel allowed customers to access live feeds of Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and Newsmax at the same time.

DirecTV has massively improved it Multiview experience since then, now even allowing customers the option to choose which channels they bring together in a Multiview mode.

For those that just want an easy way to tune in and keep up to date with this years midterms, the revamped Election HQ experience is here to help.

This year, DirecTV customers can access two versions of the Election HQ channel. Firstly, they can simply tune in to the four-feed HD news mix channel as they did in 2024. Once again, the channel will bring together feeds from CNN, Newsmax TV, MS Now (formerly MSNBC), and Fox News.

The second way adds an additional interactive element to the experience by adding live election data from The Associated Press, allowing viewers to keep up to date with reported results as votes are counted.

Election HQ Requires a DirecTV Device

While Election HQ is a good way to keep up with everything that happens during the midterms, DirecTV is only making the experience available to select customers.

Specifically, Election HQ won’t be available through the general DirecTV app, ruling out the possibility to access the feature on third-party devices or through a web browser.

Instead, DirecTV customers will need to have access to one of the company’s devices. For satellite customers, this will mean a Gemini or Genie device. For streaming customers, a Gemini or Gemini Air device will be required.

Providing a customer has access to one of these devices, the Election HQ experience will be available on channels 71 and 200 between November 2nd and November 4th, 2026.
