DirecTV streaming and satellite customers with a Gemini or Gemini Air device now have access to Local Now. The Allen Media-owned free ad-supported streaming service provides users with access to local news, information, sports, and entertainment.
DirecTV customers looking to check the new service out don’t have to manually do anything, as Local Now is becoming automatically available on DirecTV’s Gemini and Gemini Air set-top boxes from today.
And, as this is a completely free service, Local Now is becoming available to Gemini and Gemini users at no additional cost.
For those unfamiliar with the streaming service, Local Now can be a good source for local information, including traffic, weather and news reports. This is considered a hyper-local service, as Local Now looks to deliver information based on the viewer’s ZIP code.
Local Now is also a service that’s constantly growing, with a variety of new content and channels becoming available on a regular basis.
Just last month, for example, Local Now added more than 20 news and entertainment channels from Warner Bros. Discovery, unlocking access to even more free news, sports and entertainment content.
For those without a DirecTV Gemini device, the Local Now app is available to download on a variety of platforms and device. Earlier this year, a Local Now FAST channel was also added to Vizio‘s WatchFree+ free streaming service.
