  • DirecTV has launched a new Thanksgiving-themed promotion to highlight streaming anytime and anywhere.
  • Streamsgiving is also designed to promote DirecTV’s Genre Packs. Cheaper, themed alternatives to full packages that weren’t available last Thanksgiving.
  • Streamsgiving messaging will be visible in select major U.S. airports to remind travelers they can stream wherever they are over the holidays.

One of the benefits of streaming is that consumers are no longer resigned to only viewing at home. And with Thanksgiving being one of those times when many take to the roads (or skies) to spend time with family, DirecTV is using its new Streamsgiving promotional campaign to remind everyone that they can stream whenever and wherever they are.

Whether you’re settling in at home or streaming from several states away, Streamsgiving brings a welcome shift in the seasonal outlook: customizable entertainment, smooth viewing ahead and plenty of room in the forecast for everyone’s preferences,” DirecTV said in an announcement.

In particular, DirecTV seems to be focusing the campaign on promoting its Genre Packs. These mini packages offer access to a themed selection of channels at a cheaper price than DirecTV’s main Signature Packages.

And considering these Genre Packs only launched in early 2025, they weren’t available to consumers last Thanksgiving.

As DirecTV explains, Genre Packs offer access to a “curated channel collections built around the interests that tend to take center stage during the holidays.”

In other words, sports, entertainment and family programming.

In addition to potentially seeing promotional materials while at home, DirecTV is bringing Streamsgiving to those traveling over the holiday. For example, Streamsgiving messaging will be visible to travelers passing through select major airports in the U.S., including LAX, DFW, ATL and JFK.

According to DirecTV, bringing the promotional campaign to airports is designed to remind travelers “that holiday entertainment doesn’t have to pause until they reach their destination.”
