DirecTV has added four new channels to its lineup, with the new additions catering to fans of sci-fi, home design, finance and news. The new channels are live now, so existing DirecTV subscribers should be able to find and start watching them immediately through the live guide.
For sci-fi fans, Alien Nation by DUST is a new channel dedicated to the unexplained and all things aliens, paranormal, and unknown phenomena. Alien Nation by DUST is located on channel 4490.
For those more interested in home design, The Design Network offers access to home tours, top trends, and tricks of the trade from the interior experts and personalities. The Design Network is available to watch on channel 4365.
The other two new additions are Yahoo Finance (channel 4021) and Time (channel 4012). While Yahoo Finance provides live, 24/7 daily coverage on the markets and the economy, Time offers access to news, profiles, in-depth analysis, and documentaries.
All of these channels are free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels. With these being free channels, their addition is not expected to result in a price increase. Likewise, as these are FAST channels, they can also be watched without a DirecTV subscription.
For example, the Time FAST channel was added to Amazon Freevee in October and then to Local Now in November. Similarly, Alien Nation by DUST can be watched for free via Tubi and Xumo Play, as well as various other free streaming services.
Still, for those already paying for a DirecTV video subscription, the availability of FAST channels within the same live guide and interface makes it even easier to switch between popular free and paid channels.
