An ESPN Plus subscription now costs $9.99 per month. This won’t come as a surprise for those that have been following streaming news considering Disney recently announced a wave of prices increases that are due to take effect in 2022 across its streaming services. ESPN Plus is the first of those services to be affected by a price increase.

Previously, an ESPN subscription cost $6.99 per month. This in itself was following a price increase that took affect in 2021. At that time, the price rose by an additional $1 per month from its $5.99 monthly cost. This time around, the price increase is a lot more significant for both new and existing subscribers.

Starting from today (Aug. 23), the cost of an ESPN Plus subscription is $9.99 per month, resulting in a $3 monthly price increase. With the monthly cost going up, the price of the annual plan has also increased, accordingly. Starting from today, those signing up through the ESPN website can expect to pay $99.99 for a yearly ESPN Plus subscription. This is a $30 price increase compared to the previous $69.99 per year cost. For those already signed up to an annual plan, they can expect it to renew at the higher $99.99 per year rate.

At the higher price, an ESPN Plus subscription is still going to be worth it to many homes wanting streaming access to more sports content. However, a $3 monthly hike is significant and may make some homes think twice on whether they really need to be subscribed to ESPN Plus. This is even more likely to be the case for those that are also signed up to a live TV plan that includes access to any or all of the ESPN channels.

As mentioned, this is only part of a fresh wave of price increases that are coming this year, with Hulu and Disney Plus also set to go up as well. For those subscribed to both basic Hulu and Disney Plus, there will also be an option to just subscribe to these two services later this year. By skipping ESPN Plus, the $9.99 per month bundle should help to keep the cost down for those only interested in accessing entertainment content.

In the meantime, those already paying for either Hulu or Disney Plus, and wanting access to ESPN, might want to consider bundling all three services together. In spite of the price increase, it is still possible to bundle ESPN Plus with Disney Plus and Hulu for $13.99 per month.
