F1 TV was the best Apple TV app of this year, according to Apple‘s ‘App of the Year‘ 2024 awards. The app provides Apple TV users with a way to keep up with Formula 1 racing, including the ability to watch live and on-demand races, exclusive features, commentary, and real-time data.

The winner of the best Apple TV app was announced as part of Apple’s broader 2024 App Store Awards. In total, this year’s awards included 17 “exceptional experiences” chosen from 45 finalists. F1 TV beat out DROPOUT By CollegeHumor (home to original comedy content) and Zoom (a TV-optimized version of the video-meeting app).

Other winners included Kino (iPhone App of the Year), Moises (iPad App of the Year), Adobe Lightroom (Mac App of the Year), and What If…? An Immersive Story (Apple Vision Pro App of the Year).

This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes to create an immersive viewing experience that captivates fans and places them at the centre of the action. The entire team involved in the development and production of F1 TV is honoured and thanks Apple for this recognition,” said Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights and Content Creation at Formula 1.

For those interested in giving this year’s best Apple TV app a try, the F1 TV app is available to download from the App Store on supported Apple TV players. The app is also available to download on iPhone and iPad.

For reference, F1 TV does require a paid subscription, with pricing starting at $10.99 a month or $84.99 a year.

F1 TV follows Mubi, the app which won the same award in 2023. Other than both being available on Apple TV players, the two apps are very different. While F1 TV focuses on bringing immersive race-viewing experiences to fans at home, Mubi is designed for film lovers and home to a collection of movies that have been carefully chosen by its curators.
