Verizon has launched Fios TV+ as its all-in-one streaming player for Fios video customers. Similar to the Stream TV player launched in late 2019, Fios TV+ is powered by Android TV and unlocks access to the Google Play Store, Google Assistant, and more.

In reality, it remains unclear how different the new Fios TV player is to the Stream TV player, if different at all. Verizon is currently still selling the Stream TV player on its website for $69.99.

Regardless, those that do opt to get their TV service through Fios can now expect to be offered a Fios TV+ player. While the first Fios TV+ is included at no additional cost to new Fios customers, additional boxes can be added to a live TV package for an additional $12 per box.

Fios TV+ is a game-changer for delivering all your favorite live TV and streaming content, all in one place, and we’re excited to bring this experience to all of our new Fios video customers at no extra cost,” said Heather McDavitt, Vice President, Consumer Products for Verizon. “We are committed to always innovating to bring the best, industry-leading experiences our customers deserve and expect from Verizon.”

As to be expected with a provider-branded streaming player, Fios TV+ is designed to be a one-stop solution. Along with access to a variety of popular streaming services, Fios customers will also be able to access the live TV channels included with their package on the same device.

Considering this is a streaming player and not a traditional set-top box, one of the biggest selling points will be the easy installation, as the setup won’t be any more difficult than it is with an Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, or Roku device.

For those that would prefer someone to come out and install the device, it is still possible to schedule an installation appointment with a Fios technician.
