Fubo has agreed a deal to include the Rangers Sports Network in its lineup, unlocking access to coverage of the Texas Rangers. The deal appears to have taken effect immediately, with the Texas Rangers’ broadcast network now available to subscribers.
Compared to many other regional sports networks, the Rangers Sports Network is a fairly new addition to the market. For Rangers fans, however, it is going to be a good option, with the sports network providing access to pre-game, post-game, and live game telecasts across a five-state footprint.
With that footprint limited to Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma, only residents in these areas will have access to the sports network.
As Fubo already charges subscribers an additional regional sports fee, the Rangers Sports Network is available to residents located in the team’s broadcast footprint regardless of the English-language live TV package they are paying for.
For those not currently signed up to any of Fubo’s paid live TV base plans, the company has confirmed it will soon offer the Rangers Sports Network as a standalone subscription to users of its free tier. Along with the free tier, the standalone subscription will also be available to bundle with Fubo’s Latino plan.
“As the streaming leader in Major League Baseball coverage, we cannot be more thrilled to add Rangers Sports Network to Fubo,” said Todd Mathers, executive vice president, content strategy & acquisition, Fubo. “Our robust carriage and sponsorship agreement means Fubo subscribers can watch Texas Rangers baseball all season long while engaging with the team through multiple fan opportunities.”
The agreement with Fubo follows a similar agreement with DirecTV earlier this year. While DirecTV’s agreement was first announced in January, the Rangers Sports Network was only added to DirecTV’s channel lineup yesterday.
With Fubo also now offering access to Rangers Sports Network, consumers now have another choice of which live TV provider they sign up with to watch the Texas Rangers.
“Since the launch of Rangers Sports Network was announced in January, we have continued to work on additional agreements to provide options to watch our games,” said Neil Leibman, chairman, Rangers Sports Media and Entertainment Company. “Fubo’s carriage of RSN gives fans another tremendous avenue to watch Rangers baseball this season. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Fubo and hope that fans will take advantage of this new opportunity.”
