fuboTV has now confirmed multiple changes to its standard and family plans, including a price increase, the addition of some new channels, and the removal of other channels. This comes quickly after YouTube TV also announced a price increase to its live TV streaming plan.
Each year there are a number of changes to live TV streaming packages with a price increase often part of those changes. In March of last year, fuboTV removed the Extra plan and replaced it with the fubo Standard plan, which resulted in a $10 increase, bringing the overall cost up to $54.99 per month.
Today fuboTV confirmed that all of the fubo Standard subscribers are being migrated over to the Family plan. Furthermore, while the Family plan was previously priced at $59.99 per month, the price has now risen to $64.99 per month. Essentially, those subscribers being moved from the Standard plan to the Family plan will see their price increase from $54.99 per month to $64.99 per month. These price changes are due to take effect on August 1, 2020.
fuboTV will allow users to stay on the Standard plan, instead of being moved to the Family plan, although even then they will incur a $5 per month increase, taking the cost up to $59.99 per month.
fuboTV price new prices as of August 1:
- fubo Standard $59.99
- Family Bundle $64.99
- Ultra Bundle $84.99
- Latino Bundle $29.99
fuboTV channels added and removed
In addition to the price changes, fuboTV is also making some changes to the actual channel lineups. For example, earlier in the month, fuboTV confirmed a number of Disney channels were being added to the service, including ESPN. The company did not say when the channels would be activated at the time, although that now seems to be coinciding with the price increase with ESPN and the other Disney channels due to go live on fuboTV in August.
In the meantime, fuboTV was unable to strike a new deal with WarnerMedia and as a result, a number of channels are being removed from the service. These channel removals are taking effect immediately and were removed as of July 1.
Channels now removed from fuboTV:
- TNT
- TBS
- CNN
- CNN International
- CNN en Espanol
- HLN
- Cartoon Network
- Adult Swim
- Turner Classic Movies
- truTV
- Boomerang
Overall, fuboTV is in the process of some significant changes that might influence whether some users want to remain subscribed or not. While new channels are being added in August, some have already been removed and a price increase of at least $5 each month will be applied to all subscribers.
While fuboTV is making it possible for those on the Standard plan to remain on the same plan and only incur the $5 per month increase, the difference between the the two plans is the Family package comes with three simultaneous streams (compared to two) and 500 hours of cloud DVR, instead of the 30 hours included with the fubo Standard plan.
