HBO Max Subscribers to Lose CNN Max Live News Feed Next Month

HBO Max subscribers will lose access to the CNN Max live news feed next month. The live feed is being removed as part of preparations for the launch of a new CNN streaming product later this year.

CNN Max, a 24/7 live news feed, was added to HBO Max back in late 2023, when the service was still operating at Max and shortly before the addition of the Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On.

Now, a little over two years later, CNN Max is due to be removed again from the streaming service. HBO Max subscribers will lose access to the CNN Max live feed on November 17, 2025.

Max ‘With Ads’ subscribers previously lost access to the live news feed in March, along with the B/R Sports Add-On.

Following the launch and closure of CNN+ in 2022, earlier this year CNN confirmed plans to launch another streaming solution. The new CNN subscription service is due to launch before the end of this year.

With the year now drawing to a close, and preparations for the launch of the new service taking shape, CNN has confirmed it is time to remove the CNN Max live feed from the HBO Max app.

“CNN has benefitted tremendously from its two years of offering a live 24/7 feed of news to HBO Max customers. We learned from HBO Max’s large base of subscribers what people want and enjoy the most from CNN, and with the launch of our own new streaming subscription offering coming later this fall, we look forward to building off that and growing our audience with this unique, new offering,” said CNN’s Executive Vice President of Digital Products and Services, Alex MacCallum.

Although the live news feed is going away, HBO Max subscribers will continue to have access to select CNN Originals, including documentaries and series like Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, and The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper.
