Hulu Live TV has now added nine new ViacomCBS networks to its channel lineup, providing subscribers with the option to watch even more at no additional cost. Hulu Live TV is currently one of the most popular live TV streaming services in the U.S. and this change further adds value to a subscription.
One of the aspects that routinely changes in the world of live TV streaming is the selection of channels, and not always for the better. For example, Hulu recently lost access to a number of local RSNs. Although, this was not a problem specific to Hulu, considering many of the other live TV streaming services also lost access to the same channels. More generally speaking, most services continually look to increase the number of channels they offer, as is the case with Hulu’s latest announcement.
Hulu has now confirmed nine new ViacomCBS channels have been added to its live TV subscription. The change takes effect today, so current subscribers should see the new channels are already available to stream. The expansion of Hulu’s channel lineup not only results in the ability to watch what’s playing live on the new networks, but subscribers can also now access a wider selection of on-demand shows and movies as well.
The newly added ViacomCBS channels:
- BET
- Comedy Central
- Nickelodeon
- Nick Jr
- VH1
- CMT
- MTV
- TV Land
- Paramount Network
In addition to the new channels, Hulu confirmed that its Entertainment Add-on also now includes five more ViacomCBS networks. The Entertainment Add-on costs an additional $7.99 per month and provides access to a selection of lifestyle content, which will now include shows from BETher, MTV2, NickToons, TeenNick and MTV Classic.
New channels, no price increase
While live TV streaming services regularly add new channels, they have in the past arrived along with an increase in the cost of a subscription. In some cases, the increased price takes effect before the channels are added while in other instances, a price hike is announced at the same time, but delayed for a short period of time.
However, Hulu has confirmed these channels are simply being added with no immediate strings attached, including a price rise. Due to this, and in spite of the nine new ViacomCBS channel additions, the cost of a Hulu Live TV subscription remains at $64.99 per month for both new and existing subscribers.
