Disney, the owner of Hulu Live TV, will give you $30 back if you sign up within the next few days. With Hulu Live TV priced at $76.99 a month, the discount lowers the price to a minimum of $46.99 for one month. It should be noted that the T&Cs clearly state that it could take up to 6-8 weeks for the $30 to be posted back to the account.
The timing of this offer is hardly a coincidence considering Disney is currently locked in a carriage dispute with DirecTV. A carriage dispute that led to the removal of Disney-owned channels from DirecTV and DirecTV Stream packages.
Further emphasizing that this is not a coincidence, the Hulu Live TV website currently advertises the deal along with “Frustrated with your cable provider? Get Hulu + Live TV so you don’t miss your favorite networks.” This is not an unusual tactic for Disney, as the company dropped the price of Hulu’s live TV service to $50 this time last year. At the time, it happened to be in the middle of a similar dispute with Charter.
Regardless of the reason, those shopping around for a new live TV service now have the opportunity to save on the cost of Hulu Live TV. As Hulu is owned by Disney, those signing up to the service can expect access to a channel lineup that includes all of the Disney channels recently dropped by DirecTV. Subscribers to the base live TV package also get access to Disney+ and ESPN+ at no additional cost.
This is, however, a very short-term offer, as the option to get $30 back is only available to those who sign up through September 11, 2024.
As a reminder, Disney already confirmed a round of price increases are due to land in October. As part of those price increases, the cost of a Hulu Live TV subscription will increase to a minimum of $82.99 a month on October 17th.
