The cost of the Max (No Ads) add-on through Hulu will increase to $16.99 a month on September 17, 2024. The price increase is expected to impact basic Hulu and Hulu Live TV subscribers, and will bring the price of the cheapest ad-free tier in line with Max’s own pricing.
Max is only one of a number of streaming services that has already increased in price this year. The price increase only applied to the ad-free tiers, increasing the cost of the standard Ad-Free plan to $16.99 a month, and the cost of the Ultimate Ad-Free plan to $20.99 a month.
While that price increase took effect in June, Hulu was one of the very few services that never increased the price of its add-on at the same time. That’s now changing. Beginning next Tuesday (Sept. 17), the cost of the Max add-on will increase by $1 a month for new and existing Hulu and Hulu Live TV subscribers.
If already signed up to Hulu’s Max add-on, and presuming no special discount is in place, existing subscribers can expect their price to increase by $1 a month on their next billing cycle.
As a reminder, it is now possible to bundle Max with Hulu and Disney+. Opting to sign up to the ad-free version of the bundle costs $29.99 a month, resulting in a significant saving compared to paying separately for all three ad-free streaming subscriptions.
If you are signed up to Hulu Live TV, the bundle isn’t going to save you any money, considering you already get Disney+ and basic Hulu as part of the base live TV package.
