With 2024 now over, it’s time to look back at all of the price increases last year. And we can tell you up front that it was a very busy year, with DirecTV, Disney+, ESPN+, Fubo, Hulu Live TV, Paramount+, Peacock, Philo, Max, Sling TV, and YouTube TV, just some of the streaming services that increased in price over the past 12 months.
Not only was it a busy year in terms of the variety of streaming services, but also the frequency of price increases. By our calculations, March and November were the only months in 2024 without a confirmed price increase.

January Price Increases
Fubo
Fubo wasted no time in increasing in price. The cost of the cheapest Fubo plan (Pro) increased to a minimum of $79.99 a month in January, resulting in a $5 monthly increase.
Prime Video
While Prime Video didn’t technically encounter a price increase, Amazon’s streaming service did introduce a $3/mo ad-free upgrade in January. As this resulted in all subscribers automatically being downgraded to an ad-supported plan, it would have felt like a price increase for subscribers wanting to continue streaming without ads.
February Price Increases
MGM+
February was a relatively quiet month for price increases, with the only one being a $1 increase that rolled out to MGM+. This took the price of an MGM+ subscription up to $6.99 a month.
April Price Increases
HIDIVE
While we’re unsure whether HIDIVE actually increased in price in March or April, the cost of a subscription increased to $5.99 a month, resulting in a $1 increase.
Acorn TV
Acorn TV definitely increased in price in April. With $1 added to the cost, the price of a subscription increased to $7.99 a month.
May Price Increases
Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll made some changes to its plans in May. While the cheapest tier didn’t encounter an increase, the Mega Fan tier increased to $11.99 a month (up $2) and the Ultimate Fan tier increased to $15.99 a month (up $1).
June Price Increases
Max
June saw a Max price increase roll out. While the increase didn’t affect the cheapest ‘With Ads’ plan, the ad-free plans increased by $1. This resulted in the price of Ad-Free increasing to $16.99 a month and the Ultimate Ad-Free plan increasing to $20.99 a month.
Philo
Philo also increased in price in June. With $3 added to the cost, the price of the base package increased to $28 a month. This price increase was somewhat offset by the bundling of AMC+ with the Core plan, a streaming value of $4.99 a month.
July Price Increases
Peacock
Just ahead of the start of the Paris Olympics, Peacock increased the price of its plans. The July increase took the price of the Premium plan up to to $7.99 a month (up $2) and the cost of the Premium Plus plan up to $13.99 a month (up $2).
August Price Increases
History Vault
August proved to be one of the busier price increase months in 2024. Beginning with History Vault, $1 was added to the cost, increasing the price of a subscription to $5.99 a month.
NFL Sunday Ticket
YouTube’s NFL Sunday Ticket followed next with a $30 increase. This price increase took the cost of a subscription through YouTube TV up to a minimum of $379 a season, and the cost of a subscription through YouTube increasing to a minimum of $479.
Starz
Starz also rolled out a price increase, adding $1 to the price and taking the cost of a subscription up to $10.99 a month.
Paramount+
Last but not least, Paramount+ rolled out a price increase to its plans. The Paramount+ price increase resulting int the cost of the Essential plan increasing to $7.99 a month (up $2), and the cost of the Paramount+ with Showtime plan increasing to $12.99 a month (up $1)
September Price Increases
Hallmark Movies Now
September was a relatively quiet month in terms of price increases with Hallmark Movies Now the only service affected. Technically, Hallmark Movies Now didn’t encounter a price increase. Instead, it was completely replaced with the newer Hallmark+ streaming service.
Considering Hallmark+ launched at $7.99 a month, the new Hallmark streaming service cost $2 a month more than the old Hallmark streaming service.
October Price Increases
October was a big month in terms of Disney-related price increases, and considering Disney’s reach, this resulted in multiple services increasing in price.
Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+
On October 17, the cost of Disney+ and Hulu both increased in price. The ad-supported tiers increased to $9.99 a month each (up $2), Disney+ Premium increased to $15.99 a month (up $2), and Hulu (No Ads) increased to $18.99 (up $1). At the same time, the cost of an ESPN+ subscription also increased to $11.99 a month, resulting in a $1 increase.
Hulu Live TV
Along with Disney+, ESPN+, and basic Hulu, Disney’s 2024 round of price increases also resulted in the cost of a Hulu Live TV subscription increasing to $82.99 a month. Considering a subscription was previously priced at $76.99 a month, subscribers now pay $6 more each month for their live TV package.
DirecTV Stream
Hulu Live TV wasn’t the only live TV service hit by a price increase in October. Even earlier in the month, the cost of all of DirecTV Stream’s plans increased in price as well. This batch of price increases resulted in DirecTV Stream’s Entertainment plan increasing to $86.99 a month, Choice increasing to $114.99 a month, Ultimate increasing to $129.99 a month, and Premier increasing to $169.99 a month.
December Price Increases
YouTube TV
With less than a month of the year to go, YouTube TV suddenly increased in price. On Dec. 12, the cost of a YouTube TV subscription increased to $82.99 a month, resulting in a $10 monthly price increase. While the price increase went into effect immediately for new subscribers, existing subscribers were given a month to adjust to the new pricing.
AMC+
Soon after YouTube TV, AMC+ became the latest streaming service to increase in price. The change took effect on Dec. 16 and affected both ad-supported and ad-free tiers. The ad-supported tier increased to $6.99 a month (up $2) while the ad-free tier increased to $9.99 a month (up $1).
Sling TV
Closing out this year of price increases was Sling TV. After previously announcing a price increase, the cost of all Sling TV packages increased by $6 a month on Dec. 20. This resulted in the cost of the ‘Orange’ and ‘Blue’ plans increasing to a minimum of $46 a month, and the ‘Orange & Blue’ plan increasing to a minimum of $61 a month.
Live TV Price Increases Were More Common In 2024
As mentioned, March and November were the only months we didn’t record a confirmed price increase, which highlights just how regularly price increases came through last year. Notably, live TV streaming price increases were far more common in 2024.
While Philo and YouTube TV managed to get through 2023 without a price increase, that wasn’t the case in 2024. Instead, all of the main live TV services (DirecTV Stream, Fubo, Hulu Live TV, Philo, Sling TV and YouTube TV) increased in price during the past twelve months.
