If you’re a fan of reality TV shows like the 90 Day franchise and My 600-lb Life, Max might not be the best option for streaming these shows now. While subscribers can still stream the latest episodes, many older seasons have now been completely removed from the streaming service.
While Warner Bros. Discovery or Max hasn’t officially announced the removal, we noticed the purging happening in real time. As we were streaming one of the affected shows at the time of removal, we can confirm that they were removed yesterday.
In particular, the 90 Day franchise seems to have been the most impacted by this purge, with many of the spin-off shows either being completely removed, or the number of available seasons being reduced. For example, all of the 90 Day: The Single Life and 90 Day Fiance: Love in Paradise seasons are completely gone.
In the case of My 600-lb Life, seasons 1 through 9 and season 11 were all removed this week. As were seasons 1 through 3, 7 and 9 of My 600-lb Life Where Are They Now.
It is worth pointing out that 90 Day and My 600-lb Life are not the only shows that have disappeared this week. Basically, if you have been watching a show recently, and find it is no longer available, it is likely to have been included in this latest content purge.
With no confirmation as to why these shows and seasons have been removed, it remains unclear whether they are being redirected to other streaming services and platforms.
Back in 2022, for example, another batch of movies and shows were removed from Max (HBO Max at the time) only for them to make their way to The Roku Channel and Tubi. It is possible that similar licensing deals could be made for the more recently removed shows.
At the same time, it is also possible that these shows were simply removed as a way for Warner Bros. Discovery to cut costs.
Either way, for those that do want to continue to have access to any of the recently purged Discovery shows, it looks like Discovery+ is going to be the best option for now.
Discovery+ offers two main tiers to choose from. The ad-supported plan costs $5.99 a month and the ad-free tier costs $9.99 a month, and both tiers come with a seven-day free trial.
