Frndly TV is now rolling out its new Home screen to more devices, including Android TV and Apple TV devices as well as Vizio smart TVs. Frndly TV added a Home screen to Android mobile devices last month in an attempt to make it easier for subscribers to explore new content, get recommendations and more.

The new Home screen experience now rolling out to other devices is designed with the same navigation and discovery benefits in mind. For example, users will now find the Home screen provides quick access to the DVR, Continue Watching, and Favorites sections.

The introduction of a new Home screen does impact the Guide section, as opening the app would previously automatically launch into the Guide. As a result, subscribers now need to click on the Guide tab at the top to access the live guide and listings.

In some cases, subscribers may find they don’t need to click through to the Guide section as the new Home screen also comes with a focus on personalization. For example, the Home screen includes a Live Now row that’s designed to highlight channels and content based on the user’s viewing habits.

Users will also find a similar level of personalization on offer with on-demand content as well, thanks to the addition of Recommended for You and Because You Watched rows. Users can also expect to see recommendations based on what’s generally popular through the Trending Now and Critically Acclaimed rows.

In reality, none of these changes or additions are that different from the user experience offered by many other live TV streaming services and streaming services in general. With this in mind, and although a change at first, subscribers may find the new Home screen is more in line with the experience they are already used to with other streaming apps.
