Delta SkyMiles members will soon be able to stream Paramount Plus while flying and take advantage of special member-only promotions following a new exclusive partnership between Delta and Paramount Plus. This partnership is only one of many that have been announced recently between an airline and a streaming service.

Back in 2020, fuboTV struck a distribution agreement with Viasat to make it possible to use the live TV streaming service on airplanes. Even more recently, Peacock announced it was also taking to the skies after agreeing a new partnership deal with the American low-cost airline JetBlue. This resulted in Peacock becoming JetBlue’s ‘exclusive streaming partner’ with those signed up to the airline’s TrueBlue loyalty program also able to take advantage of some additional deals and promotions.

In a very similar deal, Paramount+ and Delta today announced their own exclusive partnership. According to the announcement, Delta loyalty members will be able to stream the Paramount Plus library during a flight, both on the Inflight Entertainment System (IFE) and their own devices. While a date as to when this in-flight streaming benefit will become available has yet to be provided, the announcement did state it will be available “starting this spring.”

In addition, Delta SkyMiles Members will also “have access to a special free trial of the Paramount+” to continue accessing the streaming service after their flight. At present, it remains to be seen what will make this version of the Paramount Plus free trial so special, but a longer length of time without paying the subscription cost seems like the most likely option.

The Delta SkyMiles Loyalty Program is free to join, so this is not one of those deals that will only benefit higher tiered members. What makes this deal particularly notable is that it does seem to include the entire Paramount Plus library. Paramount Plus does also offer access to live TV and the Delta partnership includes that access as well, with the announcement specifically noting the availability of “live events and championship sports.” However, it remains to be seen if access to live TV will be available through the IFE or only when using the Paramount Plus app on a traveler’s own device.

For reference, the Paramount Plus deal is part of a wider suite of changes Delta customers can expect throughout 2023 and beyond. For example, it has also now been confirmed that in-flight Wi-Fi on most domestic flights will be free for all SkyMiles members starting from next month, thanks to a separate deal with T-Mobile. Some of the highlights of the various changes, including the addition of Paramount Plus, can be seen in the new Delta Sync promotional video below.

As for Paramount Plus, Delta isn’t the only new partnership the streaming service has forged recently. Late last year, Paramount Plus agreed a different partnership with Walmart, which gifts all Walmart Plus subscribers with a free, ad-supported Essential plan as one of their membership benefits.
