Paramount+ ended the second quarter of 2025 with 77.7 million subscribers. Considering Paramount+ closed out the first quarter with 79 million subscribers, the streaming service lost more than a million subscribers between April and June of this year.
With 77.7 million subscribers reported for the second quarter, and 77.5 million reported at the close of 2024, the streaming service has only managed to add around 200,000 subscribers during the first six months of this year.
In explaining the decline in subscribers during the most recent quarter, Paramount Global pointed to the expiration of an international hard bundle deal as the primary reason.
On a year-over-year basis, Paramount+ ended the second quarter of 2024 with 68 million global subscribers, resulting in the addition of almost 10 million subscribers during the full twelve-month period.
Paramount Global also reported a 29% year-over-year increase in global viewing hours across both Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
In terms of revenue, Paramount+ saw a 23% year-over-year increase. According to Paramount, this increase was the result of year-over-year subscriber growth, pricing increases, and improvements in churn. Overall, DTC revenue increased 15% year-over-year.
While generally positive on the revenue front, Paramount Global did report a 4% decline in DTC advertising revenue. According to the company, this was the result of lower CPMs and growing Connected TV supply.
With more than 26 million global viewers for its premiere episode during the second quarter, MobLand became the #2 Original Series ever on Paramount+. Another popular series was The Chi, with the season seven premiere scoring 2 million cross-platform viewers.
