One of the main reasons to consider subscribing to the Paramount+ Premium plan is access to the Showtime library. However, Essential subscribers can watch some Showtime Originals without upgrading to the more expensive plan.
While the Essential plan has traditionally always locked subscribers out of accessing Showtime content, that changed last year.
As part of a rebrand that saw the Paramount+ with Showtime plan revert to the Paramount+ Premium plan, Paramount+ unlocked access to some of the Showtime library for Essential subscribers.
Here is the list of Showtime Originals currently available to Essential subscribers.
- Billions – Seasons 1-7 (full seasons)
- Couples Therapy – Seasons 1-3
- Dexter – Seasons 1-8 (full seasons)
- Dexter: New Blood
- Ray Donovan – Seasons 1-7 (full seasons)
- The Affair – Seasons 1-5 (full seasons)
- The Agency: Central Intelligence – Season 1 (full seasons)
- The L Word – Seasons 1-6 (full seasons)
- The Tudors – Seasons 1-4 (full seasons)
- Twin Peaks: The Return
- Yellowjackets – Seasons 1-2
- Your Honor – Seasons 1-2 (full seasons)
In reality, this is still a very small list, with most of the Showtime catalog still locked behind the Premium plan. However, for those that would like to check out something a little different, these Originals could be the answer.
Existing Paramount+ Essential subscribers who would prefer access to the entire Showtime catalog may want to consider upgrading to the Premium plan.
In terms of the price difference, the Premium tier costs an additional $6 more each month, taking the monthly total up to $13.99.
Existing annual Essential subscribers can expect to pay $139.99 a year, a $60 increase on their current rate.
While that may sound like a lot just for Showtime – that’s the good news. It is not just for Showtime.
Paramount+ Premium subscribers get access to a variety of additional benefits, including ad-free access to most of the Paramount+ on demand library, and access to their local CBS station.
