Select Spectrum TV and Mi Plan Latino customers now get Paramount+ for free. Charter and Paramount Global recently agreed a new multi-year distribution deal, and as part of that agreement, Charter confirmed that customers would be getting access to Paramount+ at no additional cost.
Charter explained that the free Paramount+ subscription would become available later this year. That time has now come. Customers signed up to eligible Spectrum TV plans and Mi Plan Latino are now able to redeem a free Paramount+ subscription.
Once activated through Spectrum, a Paramount+ account will need to be created to access the streaming service’s library, which not only includes a wide selection of on-demand content but also select live channels and live sports events.
For those with an existing Paramount+ subscription, the free subscription through Spectrum won’t replace the existing subscription. Instead, existing subscribers will need to manually cancel their existing subscription to avoid continue paying for Paramount+ after redeeming the free version through Spectrum.
If planning to use the same login details, existing subscribers will need to wait until their final billing cycle ends before signing up with the free Spectrum subscription.
For reference, it is the Paramount+ Essential plan that’s included with Spectrum TV plans at no additional cost. As this is the ad-supported version of Paramount+ customers should expect to see ads before and during videos.
Charter previously confirmed that Spectrum customers who redeem the free subscription will have the opportunity to upgrade to the ad-free Paramount+ with Showtime plan. In addition to removing the ads, Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers also get access to their local CBS station and the Showtime library.
