Spectrum TV Select customers will get free Paramount+ and BET+ later this year, thanks to a new agreement between Charter Communications and Paramount Global. The free streaming services are part of a wider multi-year distribution agreement that includes Paramount’s full portfolio of linear cable networks and CBS-owned-and-operated broadcast stations.

In terms of the free services, Spectrum video customers will be getting access to the ad-supported ‘Essential‘ tiers of Paramount+ and BET+. While no specific date was announced, both streaming services will become available sometime later in 2024, and at no cost to all customers of Charter’s Spectrum TV Select and Mi Plan Latino packages. Charter also says Spectrum customers that have Paramount+ Essential included will be offered the opportunity to upgrade to the ad-free Paramount+ with Showtime tier later this year

This innovative deal celebrates our mutual commitment to deliver flexibility, choice and value for audiences everywhere, and we look forward to bringing even more of our fan-favorite programming to Spectrum customers through our direct-to-consumer streaming services for the first time,” said Ray Hopkins, President of U.S. Networks Distribution at Paramount.

The new agreement will also offer customers of Charter’s Internet-only plans the chance to purchase Paramount’s direct-to-consumer services.

From the outset, Paramount has embraced Charter’s goal of evolving the video distribution model, and we have appreciated their willingness to collaborate on a solution that benefits our mutual customers and the video industry as a whole,” said Tom Montemagno, Executive Vice President, Programming Acquisition for Charter.

The deal with Paramount+ follows similar deals Charter has struct with other companies recently. Last year, for example, Charter agreed a deal with Disney to provide Spectrum TV customers with free access to its services. Following the announcement, Spectrum TV Select customers gained access to Disney+ in January and ESPN+ in March.

In a separate deal earlier this year with TelevisaUnivision, Spectrum TV Select customers also gained access to ViX’s streaming service at no additional cost.

Spectrum continues to transform the cable bundle to become the best destination and value for video customers and we expect to continue to add more enhancements like this in the near future,” Montemagno added.
